Teri Burgess-Champoux earned her bachelor’s degree in Dietetics from Michigan State University, her master’s degree in Nutritional Science from San Diego State University, and her doctorate in Nutrition from the University of Minnesota. She completed postdoctoral training to conduct public health research in adolescent health at the University of Minnesota. Over the course of her career, Dr. Burgess-Champoux has worked in a variety of practice settings as a clinical dietitian and dietetics educator.
Dr. Burgess-Champoux is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family, Consumer, and Nutritional Sciences at St. Catherine University. Her research interests include child and adolescent health, child obesity prevention, and whole grains.
Dr. Burgess-Champoux has been awarded the Public Health Nutrition Division Research Award from the Society for Nutrition Education (2007), the Outstanding Dietetic Educator Award from the American Dietetic Association (2003), and the Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year Award from the American Dietetic Association (1992).
Prior to becoming an Associate Editor for the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior, Dr. Burgess-Champoux served as an Ad Hoc Reviewer for JNEB and is also an Ad Hoc Reviewer for the Journal of the American Dietetic Association and Public Health Reports. She also serves as an Evidence Analysis Analyst with the American Dietetic Association and was recently appointed to serve as a Program Representative for the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) where she has served as a program reviewer/site visitor since 2005.
Teri lives in Woodbury, MN with her husband Paul and their three daughters and enjoys baking, gardening, yoga, and running.
