      Therefore, the need for tools that assist the health professional to effectively counsel this clientele is apparent. For the nutrition professional, it is especially critical to overcome language barriers, as nutrition counseling is complex and requires considerable interaction to achieve the level of rapport that translates into a successful treatment adherence. In this context, this book represents a valuable resource to learn Spanish-speaking skills relevant to counseling and knowledge about Latino culture to improve communication. Divided into 3 sections, this resource is a brief yet comprehensive work. In the 6 chapters that make up the first section, the author presents key information for culturally sensitive nutrition care. The initial chapters depict several features of the Latino culture—values, beliefs, practices—that influence health and eating behavior. These first chapters are quite pertinent when considering that working with Hispanics implies not only language challenges, but also those related with population diversity.
