Development, Implementation, and Evaluation of Evidence-Based Cooking Videos for Cancer Survivors

Published:April 22, 2017DOI:https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jneb.2017.03.012
There are over 15.5 million cancer survivors currently living in the US, with many at risk for multiple obesity-related comorbidities associated with inadequate dietary and physical activity patterns.
Evidence-based guidelines for cancer prevention and survivorship promote a primarily plant-based diet to improve survivor outcomes, yet adherence to these recommendations is poor.

Nutrition programming targeting the specific needs of cancer survivors should provide basic nutrition knowledge and promote adherence to the evidence-based guidelines. Online cooking videos may be a viable method of delivering survivor-specific nutrition education.
